From Classroom to Coastline: Unlocking the Science of Long Island Sound

Our 7th-grade went far beyond the classroom, becoming real-life watershed scientists for the day! Students engaged in intensive, hands-on analysis and assessment, traveling to upland and coastal sites to directly measure the water quality of the Long Island Sound watershed. This experiential learning opportunity not only sharpened their critical thinking skills and expanded their vocabulary, but also fostered a deep sense of connection for their local environment and community.
